The Student Loan Fund (SLF) was established to promote the welfare of the
Fraternity and its members by aiding women who experience financial difficulties
while pursuing their degrees.
Applicants must be initiated, undergraduate members of Kappa Alpha Theta
Fraternity currently enrolled in school. Preference is given to junior and
senior members. The applicant cannot be on scholastic or discretionary
probation. Loans are granted on the basis of need, scholastic achievement, and
contribution to the Fraternity and to the university. These loans are ideal for
dues, fees, and books.
Loans are granted up to a lifetime maximum of $2,500. Currently, the interest
charged is 8% annually per note. The first interest payment is due one year from
the date the loan is granted and again on that date until the loan is amortized
and monthly principal and interest payments begin. Monthly principal and
interest payments begin 6 months after graduation.
The SLF Committee evaluates each application. Complete applications received
by the first day of the month are acted upon by the 15th.
Applications are available at each college chapter. In addition, requests for
applications may be made via E-mail: Mindy Young, by calling
1-888-526-1870 ext. 123, or by clicking on the link on the right hand side of
this page.
